PreForm's mission is to facilitate professional art production and artistic development in Fjaler.

PreForm provides production services and advisory support to art and culture producers from both Norway and abroad. One of our key responsibilities is to facilitate productions and work residencies in Fjaler. PreForm is also an active driver in fostering collaboration across artistic disciplines and among the organizations we partner with.

PreForm is based in the cultural venue Samvirket, centrally located in the heart of Dale. The building is owned by Fjaler Municipality, but PreForm is responsible for its operations and has developed it into a modern and professional rural arts production house.

Samvirket serves as a production site for stage-based arts such as theatre, dance, and music. We also have two sound studios and support podcast production, audio drama, audiobooks, sound art, music production, and more. Our sound, lighting, and other production equipment are of high quality, and the facilities are exceptionally well suited for artistic production and cultural activities.

PreForm receives its main funding from Arts Council Norway and Vestland County Municipality. PreForm AS is a non-profit limited company, established in 2014 as a result of Fjaler Municipality’s community development project of the same name.

We want to be an actor that makes a difference — locally and nationally — by strengthening the field of art and giving more artists access to resources and opportunities for development.

Our collaborators

Dale is a vibrant village with a diverse cultural scene, offering creative resources and inspiration.

Since 1998, the Nordic Artists’ Centre in Dale has hosted visual artists, while the Jakob Sande Centre for Storytelling has, since 2017, developed residencies for writers. Since 2013, the annual Theatre Festival in Fjaler has welcomed artists for the production and presentation of performing arts, dance, and music.

Other important partners include Fjaler Municipality and the local Culture School, among others.
